There is nothing—absolutely nothing—half so much worth doing as simply messing around in boats ---Kenneth Grahame
2009 BC Cruise
In 2009 we returned to the Broughton Archipelago, that wonderful group of islands nestled between Vancouver Island and mainland BC, just southeast of Queen Charlotte Strait.
We traveled about 620 nautical miles round trip from Anacortes, with our turnaround at Sointula, on Malcom Island, just northeast of Port McNeill, BC.
We cruised in May and June this year and enjoyed very quiet, uncrowded anchorages and marinas. It was an unusual year, weather-wise. Most days were sunny and much warmer than usual. We had only one day of rain! We had several delays due to high winds, and very little fog.
We stopped at the following anchorages and marinas: Montague Harbour, Nanaimo, Pender Harbour, Ballet Bay, Squirrel Cove, Hemming Bay, Shoal Bay, Lagoon Cove, Kwatsi Bay, Waddington Bay, Sointula, Crease Island, Potts Lagoon, Forward Harbour, Reid Harbor, Friday Harbor, and West Sound.
We’ll be adding photos from this trip to the website soon.
